Laptops with the Fastest Wi-Fi Speed

These are the Wi-Fi speeds from all laptops I’ve tested!

About the Test Network

• All testing is performed in local network with the laptop in the same room as the wireless access point, so consider these as “best case” results.
• For most people in the real world, lower results are to be expected. Whether that be due to physical obstructions such as the wireless access point being in another room, or ISP limitations on Internet speed.
• The Wi-Fi network uses the 6GHz band with WPA3. Older devices automatically fallback to 5GHz.
• This router has a 10 gigabit Ethernet port which connects directly to the 10 gigabit port on my Synology NAS
• The Synology NAS hosts an iperf3 server in a docker container.
• Transmit speed = Upload speed, Receive speed = Download speed.

The iperf server is run on the NAS runs within a docker container, launched automatically on boot with:

docker run -it --rm --name=iperf3-server -p 5201:5201 networkstatic/iperf3 -s

The following iperf command is run on the client/laptop side:
iperf3.exe -c 192.168.x.x -i 1 -t 60 -O 3 -P 10 -f m

This command ignores the first 3 seconds of test results and then runs for 30 seconds. 10 parallel client streams are run at once. I run this command 3 times and average the output from all three runs.

Test results below were collected with the ASUS GT-BE98, which supports up to Wi-Fi 7.

Older Data

The older data below was collected prior to my Wi-Fi 7 router upgrade. This data was collected between 2021-2024 with the ASUS RT-AX89X, which is limited to Wi-Fi 6. Results may be different when factoring the newer Wi-Fi 6E. a 5GHz WPA3 network was used, but the test methodology was otherwise the same as above.
